  1. Stephen Constantine appointed Indian men’s football head coach
    • Englishman Stephen Constantine was today appointed head coach of Indian men’s football team, paving the way for his return at the helm of affairs for the second time.
    • He will also be the coach of the India Under-23 national team.
    • Constantine was India coach from 2002 till 2005, during which the national team won the LG Cup in Vietnam and finished runners-up in the Afro Asian Games.
  2. Baryshpolets wins Parsvnath International Grandmasters Chess
    • Grandmaster Andrey Baryshpolets of Ukraine won the 13th Parsvanth International Grandmasters chess tournament defeating Deepan Chakkravarthy.
    • Deepan Challravarthy had the consolation of finishing as the best performing Indian as he finished tenth on seven points despite losing the last round game.

    • Best Actor Female Popular Choice: Deepika Padukone
    • Best Actor Popular Choice: Shah Rukh Khan
  4. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited Chairman R K Tyagi conferred JGBS excellence award
    • Hindustan Aeronautics Limited Chairman R K Tyagi has been conferred with ‘JGBS-Top Rankers’ Excellence Award for CEO of the year’.
    • He received the award from S M Khan, Director General (Press Registrar and Head of Department), Registrar of Newspapers for India.
  5. ‘The Red Sari’ book on Sonia Gandhi released. It has been authored by author Javier Moro.
  6. Sania Mirza, Mattek-Sands win Sydney doubles title
    • Indo-American pair of Sania Mirza and Bethanie Mattek-Sands defeated top-seeded Americans Abigail Spears and Raquel Kops-Jones 6-3, 6-3 to win the women’s doubles title of the Sydney International tennis tournament.
  7. Nepal names Deep Kumar Upadhyay as India envoy
    • Nepal today named a veteran Nepali Congress leader and former minister Deep Kumar Upadhyay as its new ambassador to India.
    • A critically important post that has been lying vacant for more than three years.
  8. Mark Knowles named hockey Player of the Year
    • The 30-year-old central defender Mark Knowles, who led the team to the 2014 World Cup title and Commonwealth Games gold named hockey Player of the Year
    • In the female section, Dutch star Ellen Hoog was declared the women’s Player of the Year.
    • Dutch Joyce Sombroek was awarded women’s Goalkeeper of the Year.
