  1. Jaitley launches single window e-biz portal
    • In order to facilitate ‘Ease of Doing Business’, the Government has launched a single window government-to-business (G2B) portal for 11 central government services.
    • “We are firmly commited to wide ranging initiatives aimed at fostering the business environment in the country in a holistic manner,” Jaitley said.
    • The services, available on the portal, www.ebiz.gov.in, include those from Corporate Affairs Ministry (MCA), Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) and Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO).
  2. RIL appoints ex-IAS officer from Gujarat to board
    • Former top IAS officer from Gujarat, Maheshwar Sahu has been appointed as an independent director on the board of Mukesh Ambani-promoted Reliance Industries Limited (RIL).
    • He played a lead role in popularising the state government-sponsored Vibrant Gujarat investors summit on a global scale.
  3. Jitan Manjhi resigns as Bihar CM ahead of trust vote
    • Embattled Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi Friday dramatically resigned just ahead of a floor test, the move coming despite the BJP extending support to him.
    • Manjhi said that he did not get respect as chief minister.
    • Manjhi was picked by former chief minister and JD-U leader Nitish Kumar as his replacement when he quit last year after JD-U’s rout in the Lok Sabha polls.

  4. PM Modi launches ‘Soil Health Card scheme’
    • Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday called for focusing attention on the health of soil in agricultural areas across the country, to boost productivity and bring about increased prosperity.
    • He was speaking after launching the Union Government’s nationwide ‘Soil Health Card’ Scheme from Suratgarh, Rajasthan.
    • 14 crore Soil Health Cards are envisaged to be issued over the next 3 years.
  5. Scientist Tapan Misra appointed as Director of ISRO’s Space Application Centre
    • Eminent scientist Tapan Misra has been appointed the Chief of ISRO’s Space Applications Centre (SAC), Ahmedabad.
    • Misra, Deputy Director, Microwave Remote Sensing Area in SAC, succeeds A S Kiran Kumar, who was appointed as the Chairman of the ISRO last month.
