  1. Vankadarath Saritha, first woman bus driver of Delhi Transport Corporation
    • Marking a step towards women empowerment, Vankadarath Saritha on Friday joined as the first woman bus driver of the Delhi Transport Corporation.
    • The 30-year-old driver, from Nalgonda in Telangana, has been posted at the Sarojini Nagar depot and will start working officially from April 20
  2. International Paralympic committee derecognises Indian body due to infighting
    • Paralympic Committee of India was derecognised by the International Paralympic committee on Friday due to infighting in the organistation.
    • The decision was taken after gross negligence and mismanagement by the PCI in organising the national championship in Ghaziabad.
    • Following the ban, the Paralympic Committee of India has been barred from participating in any event.
  3. Haryana’s Ashish Jakhar sets a national record in hammer throw
    • Haryana’s Ashish Jakhar made a national youth record in boy’s hammer throw in the 12th National Youth Athletics Championships.
    • Ashish threw the 5kg ball and made a national youth record with a distance of 71.92m on his first throw.
    • After that in the second throw, he improved his distance and chain to 72.04m to mark his class with fine rotations on the circle to make the first national record of the event.
    • The previous national record set by the Haryana’s Sukhdev Singh, who threw the ball to a distance of 70.35m in 2009.
  4. Vishal Sikka appointed as University Advisory Professor at ECNU
    • The East China Normal University (ECNU), one of the prestigious universities in China, announced the appointment of Dr. Vishal Sikka, Chief Executive Officer of Infosys, as Advisory Professor.
    • Dr. Vishal Sikka is Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Infosys .

  5. Two Indians named 2015 Yale World Fellows in US
    • Two Indians are among 16 people named by Yale University as its 2015 World Fellows.
    • Zeena Johar, SughaVazhvu Healthcare Founder and journalist and author Rahul Pandita will arrive at the university later this year for an intensive four-month period of academic enrichment and leadership training.
