  1. Flipkart got new members to its leadership team
    • Flipkart announced the addition of two new members to its leadership positions, Vice President of Fashion (Retail) and the Vice President of HR (Supply-Chain).
    • Rishi Vasudev joined as the new Vice President Fashion (Retail).
    • Parameswaran Balakrishnan has joined the flipkart as Vice President HR for supply chain.
  2. Yahoo buys advertising service BrightRoll
    • Yahoo Inc will pay about $640 million for automated advertising service BrightRoll.
  3. Public sector bank employees went on strike today
    • Employee unions of public sector banks went on a nation-wide strike on Wednesday to press for wage revision.
    • The branches of private banks like ICICI, HDFC bank remained open.
    • The wage revision of public sector bank employees has been due since November 2012.
  4. Virat Kohli placed third in latest ICC ODI batsman ranking
    • Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan were placed at third and fifth respectively in the latest ICC ODI batsmen’s rankings. Indian skipper MS Dhoni slipped to seventh position.
    • Two South Africans – AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla – continue to occupy the top two positions in the table.
    • In ODI bowler’s list, India’s medium pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar shared the sixth spot with Mohammad Hafeez of Pakistan.
  5. Hockey India announces annual awards
    • In a first for Indian hockey, the national federation decided to have the ‘Hockey India Annual Awards’ wherein the top players in the men’s and women’s categories will be presented awards with a prize money of Rs. 25 lakh each.
    • The list of Awards are:
      • Dhruv Batra Player of the Year (Men) — Rs 25,00,000
      • Dhruv Batra Player of the Year (Women) — Rs 25,00,000
      • Upcoming Player of the Year (Men U—21) — Rs 10,00,000
      • Upcoming Player of the Year (Women U—21) — Rs.10,00,000
      • Goalkeeper of the Year — Rs.5,00,000
      • Defender of the Year — Rs.5,00,000
      • Midfielder of the Year — Rs.5,00,000
      • Forward of the Year — Rs.5,00,000
      • Award for Invaluable Contribution (For coaches and support staff) — Rs.5,00,000
      • President Award for Outstanding Achievement — Rs.5,00,000.
  6. India has beaten Australia by 3-1 to clinch the hockey test series.
  7. Cognizant acquires Australian firm Odecee, a leading provider of digital solutions.
  8. Kerala became the first state to have bank account for all families
    • Kerala became the first state in the country to have bank account for all families under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna (PMJDY).
    • All banks in kerala have opened total of 12.8 lakh accounts. As many as 5.25 lakh RuPay debit cards have been issued and Rs.326 crore collected as deposit from these account holders.

  10. Rajinikanth is Indian Film Personality of the year
    • The Centre has named actor Rajinikanth as winner of the Centenary Award for Indian Film Personality of the Year.
    • The Chennai-based actor would be receiving the honour at the 45th International Film Festival of India to be held in Goa from November 20 to 30.
    • The 63-year-old actor is a recipient of the Padma Bhushan.
